The race in the Speed and Distance categories was held from the Tajuya crossroads to the El Paso football field.
The La Palma Equestrian Project of the public company Sodepal of the Cabildo de La Palma has reached its conclusion this season with the celebration of the finals, which proclaimed Battle of Waterloo, from Cuadra El Ciclón, and Aitana Ciel, from Macaco Team, as winners.
The race was held in the Tajuya neighbourhood of El Paso, with the finishing line near the football pitch.
In the Speed category, Battle of Waterloo won by four lengths over Catapum from Los Chicos. On the other hand, in the Distance category, with a closer finish, Aitana Ciel beat Australia Cape from the Los Chicos stable and Cavo D'Oro from the Malpeis stable.
The president of the Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, recalls that the La Palma Ecuestre project aims to encourage and promote equestrianism on the island, offering the community a unique opportunity to enjoy and participate in high-level equestrian competitions. The recovery of the Tajuya course for this final also highlights the commitment to the Island's equestrian traditions and history, reinforcing the cultural and sporting value of this initiative.
Sergio Rodríguez would also like to thank all the Sodepal staff, as well as the Guardia Civil de Tráfico, the Local Police of the different municipalities and the volunteer groups for their involvement and participation in the celebration of these tests. "They have been fundamental to the success of the event", emphasises the president.
For his part, the Councillor for Sports, Yurguen Hernández, underlined the sporting value of the initiative as an "excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of sport on our island. Riding is a discipline that combines physical and mental skills and a close connection with animals, and we are proud to be able to offer an event of this magnitude on La Palma".
