The island's president, Sergio Rodríguez, stresses the commitment being made to promote the commercial and business sector of La Palma, as well as to promote entrepreneurship as a pillar of social and economic development.
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, and with the collaboration of the Breña Alta Town Council, is organising the 1st "IslaInnova" Trade and Business Congress, a meeting aimed at businesses, companies and entrepreneurs on the island, which will take place between 17th and 19th October in the Plaza Bujaz in Breña Alta.
The island's president, Sergio Rodríguez, as part of a strategy based on the social and economic development of the island, highlights the Cabildo's commitment to promoting the commercial and business sector of La Palma, as well as its commitment to entrepreneurship, "especially in the process of recovery in which we are immersed on the island after the pandemic and the volcano", he explains.
Miriam Perestelo, Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade and CEO of Sodepal, says that this congress has been designed to become a key meeting point to explore the opportunities and challenges of local trade in the island context. It will also provide a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas, the strengthening of networks and the promotion of strategies for the sustainable development of businesses on La Palma.
The Mayor of Breña Alta, Jonathan Felipe, highlights the importance of this first edition of the congress being held in the municipality, given that the support shown for local commerce is well known, and also in a scenario in which "we have just inaugurated the Open Commercial Zone and this event is the epicentre of local commerce and entrepreneurship in the town of Breña Alta".
The Cabildo maintains its firm policy of support for the Island's commercial sector, backing it in the search for resources to generate skills adapted to the current times so that they can use them in the day-to-day running of their businesses.
The first congress will bring together a wide range of professionals specialising in different business-enhancing topics, such as the use of artificial intelligence, the importance of image and branding, visual communication and the use of social networks and emotional intelligence to achieve success. In addition, we will have the participation of local companies that will present the experience acquired during their professional career in order to raise awareness of the importance of innovation and modernisation within the framework of trade and business.
Attendees will be able to enjoy talks by experts such as Emilio Duró and Elsa Punset, who will be coming to the island for the first time. Emilio Duró stands out as a lecturer with extensive experience in the business world and a strong advocate of the importance of proactive attitudes and values in personal and professional life. Elsa Punset, for her part, is one of the leading Spanish-speaking figures in the world for the dissemination of emotional intelligence as a tool for intelligent optimism.
The Congress has the participation of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and the different trade associations of the Island, as well as the participation of Fedepalma and FAEP.
