The Cabildo opens the registration period for the I Festival Gastronómico Insular 'Saborea La Palma Me Sabe'.

The event, which will take place from 8 to 10 November in Fuencaliente, aims to promote the development of the gastronomic sector on the island and the promotion of products from the island of La Palma.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, has opened the registration period to participate in the I Festival Gastronómico Insular Saborea La Palma Me Sabe, a meeting promoted by the Corporation together with the Town Hall of Fuencaliente, which will take place in the municipality on the weekend of the 8th to 10th of November.

Individuals or companies wishing to participate can register through the Saborea La Palma website. https://saborealapalma.es/inscripcion-a-ferias/inscripcion-al-i-festival-gastronomico-insular-saborea-la-palma-me-sabe/ until the number of places is filled.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, encourages all professionals in the gastronomic sector to participate, "as it is an opportunity not only to promote and make our products and gastronomy more visible, with a commitment to sustainability and zero kilometre consumption, but it is also a meeting between professionals that contributes to the generation of synergies that have a direct impact on the economic development of a key sector in the island's GDP and the generation of employment".

The event will take place in Fuencaliente, in the "heart" of its town centre, as it is one of the most outstanding municipalities in terms of wine production in the archipelago and has the oldest vines of the aromatic malvasía variety, which has been world famous for centuries and is nowadays one of the most outstanding products of La Palma. Moreover, its scenic quality and natural resources are an attraction for the tourist promotion of the event.

In this sense, the Councillor emphasises that Fuencaliente has been chosen following the line of work set by the Island Corporation to diversify the actions developed among the 14 municipalities of the Island, "dynamising and generating activity, as well as distributing resources so that all areas of the territory have opportunities for growth", remarked Miriam Perestelo.

The festival will be attended by farmers and stockbreeders, agri-food producers, restaurateurs, distributors of gourmet products, as well as a broad representation of agents from the agri-food, agricultural, commercial and tourism sectors, critics and gastronomic experts, the hotel and catering industry, both from the island and with the presence of important Canary Island and Spanish personalities.

In addition to the specific planning of an activity area, conferences, colloquiums, talks, show cooking, workshops and culinary competitions, we will also have an exhibition and sales area for restaurateurs, as well as providing a set of stands for agricultural producers to showcase and market products from the primary sector.

During the course of the fair, other specific culinary events will be held in parallel, such as a national confectionery meeting, the installation of a cheese and wine sensory tunnel, as well as tourist promotion areas and various musical performances.

Another unique feature of the Festival will be the 'Jura de la Pipa', where new locally produced wines are tasted, which traditionally coincides with the festival of San Martín.
