The exhibition of signature jewellery called El Jardín del Atlántico dazzled the public in the Spanish capital last night as part of a new edition of Madrid es Moda, the event that opens Madrid Fashion Week, organised by the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) with the support of the Madrid City Council through its Madrid Capital de Moda programme. An initiative that highlights the creativity and talent of Canarian designers and jewellery creators, promoted by the Isla Bonita Moda quality guarantee seal, which promotes the development of the creative and textile sector from the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through Sodepal and which, since last year 2024, has been a member of ACME as a collaborating institution.
The Atlantic Garden brought together nine creators from the Canary Islands who presented their exclusive pieces in an exhibition that breathed the essence of their Atlantic identity. The exhibition, held at the Hotel 7 Islas in the heart of Madrid, was curated by the renowned Canarian jewellery designer Helena Rohner. A great advocate of craftsmanship and sustainability, Helena is considered one of the most important figures in Spanish jewellery design and her contribution to designer jewellery has been fundamental in positioning Spanish signature creations on the international scene.
The event brought together artists from different islands of the archipelago, six of them associated with the Isla Bonita Moda collective (Atelier El Tesoro, Lepa Punca, Mararte, Pedro Ferreiro, Sara Luis Joyas and Silvia Baly), as well as three representatives of the collectives Gran Canaria Moda Cálida (Carmen y Mario Joyeros Artesanos), Tenerife Moda (Nerea Murillo Jewellery) and Lanzarote Moda (Nanni Jewelry).
Framed within the Canarias Islas de Moda initiative, this action has counted on the collaboration of
Proexca, which the Government of the Canary Islands aims to promote and position Canarian fashion and design in international markets. Through this exhibition, the designers were able to show their art in the Spanish capital, an ideal showcase to bring the cultural richness of the Canary Islands to a diverse and specialised public.
Among the pieces on display, visitors could admire innovative designs that fuse traditional craftsmanship and techniques with the most avant-garde, reflecting the identity of each island and the deep connection with nature and the history of the Canary Islands. Pieces full of passion for the land and great symbolism made jewellery that captivated professionals from the sector, the media and design lovers, who were also able to enjoy a cocktail tasting with Canarian gastronomy products in the heart of Madrid.
El Jardín del Atlántico reaffirms the importance of the Canary Islands as a reference in the world of fashion and design, with a unique seal that combines tradition and modernity projected from the Atlantic with a global vision.
In the words of Miriam Perestelo, Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, "the presence of the La Palma designer jewellery firms associated with the Isla Bonita Moda collective and that of our guests, colleagues associated with the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, Lanzarote Moda and Tenerife Moda collectives, at an event of the magnitude of Madrid es Moda is a fundamental milestone for the sector. This type of initiative not only allows our designers and creators to make themselves known in one of the most demanding markets in our country, but also consolidates the unique identity of Canarian fashion and design on an international level. Being in Madrid, one of the global capitals of fashion, not only opens new doors to collaborations and the expansion of their presence in the market, but also has a direct impact on the local economy, employment and investment in the creative sector of the islands. In addition, we have the support of the Canary Islands Government through Proexca as part of our internationalisation strategy under the umbrella of the Canarias Islas de Moda brand, which seeks to put the Canary Islands on the map not only as an attractive destination, but also as a creative and quality benchmark in design and signature jewellery".
