Marrakech becomes a living classroom for the students of Advertising Graphics thanks to the support of Isla Bonita Moda.
Isla Bonita Moda, the quality guarantee seal of the La Palma Island Council which - through SODEPAL - promotes the island's creative and textile sector, continues to strengthen its link with education and emerging talent, reaffirming its commitment to the training of new generations of creatives. On this occasion, the firm has collaborated with the Manolo Blahnik Art School to make possible an inspiring educational trip to Marrakech, aimed at students in the 1st and 2nd year of the Advertising Graphics Cycle.
During their stay in the Moroccan city, the group had the opportunity to immerse themselves in an environment where art, architecture and design are in constant dialogue. The visit to the Medina, with its lively alleyways, vibrant colours and souks brimming with sensory stimuli, became an immersive experience that nurtured the students' creativity and aesthetic perception.
One of the most significant moments of the trip was the visit to the iconic Jardin Majorelle, designed by painter Jacques Majorelle and later restored by legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent. The intense Majorelle blue, together with the harmony of the garden and its architecture, offered a visual lesson in the connection between nature, colour and design.
The experience was rounded off with a visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, where students were able to learn first-hand how Marrakech influenced the designer's work. His legacy demonstrated how tradition, local culture and the environment can become a powerful source of inspiration for contemporary design.
This trip was made possible thanks to the renewed collaboration agreement between the centre and Isla Bonita Moda, whose support has helped transform this experience into a unique opportunity for academic and creative growth. In the words of Mónica Reverón Donate, director of the Manolo Blahnik School of Art: "without a doubt, a valuable educational experience that has broadened our vision of design as a living discipline that is deeply connected to the environment".
Miriam Perestelo, Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, explains that "we firmly believe in education as a driver of social and professional transformation. Supporting this type of initiative not only strengthens young talent, but also projects La Palma as a territory that is committed to knowledge, creativity and connection with the world. Seeing how these students absorb new cultural and artistic influences encourages us to continue promoting initiatives that transcend the classroom and generate a real impact on their careers".
