The Cabildo kicks off the 2nd Island Gastronomy Fair with more than 40 producers and a full programme of showcookings and music.

Sergio Rodríguez stresses that this event is a celebration of the identity, flavours and history of La Palma.

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, was in charge of inaugurating the II Feria Insular de Gastronomía in the Plaza Juan Pablo II in Los Llanos de Aridane, an event that will be held over the weekend and which, after a successful first edition held in Fuencaliente, has consolidated itself as the great showcase of the primary sector and the restoration of the Isla Bonita.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through Sodepal, and with the collaboration of the Town Council of Los Llanos de Aridane and the Instituto de Calidad Agroalimentaria, is promoting this initiative which, in the words of Sergio Rodríguez, is not just an event, but "a celebration of our identity, our flavours, our history and the hands that work the land and sea of La Palma".

This edition features the participation of more than 40 producers and restaurateurs, who are "the heart of this fair" and "the real protagonists", stressed Sergio Rodríguez. The fair also strengthens gastronomic ties with other regions, welcoming three special guests, with representatives from Tenerife, one from Fuerteventura, and the presence of Salimat Galicia.

The mayor of Los Llanos de Aridane, Javier Llamas, thanked the Cabildo de La Palma and Sodepal for choosing the municipality to hold this event, which "is a meeting point to highlight the island's gastronomy".

Along the same lines, the president of Saborea España, Susi Díaz, emphasised that this fair is a portal for the presentation and simulation of the island's products, and congratulated the island corporation for the initiative, which allows the sector to "get its act together". "The evolution of gastronomy and the potential of La Palma is evident," she remarked.

The exhibition space is designed to offer a variety of dynamic experiences with a tasting and experience area; a Professional Business Meetings area to promote alliances in the primary and catering sector; an area for presentations by the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-food Quality, and a Children's area for the enjoyment of the youngest visitors.

At the same time, the 'Come La Palma' conference on the hotel and catering industry is being held, with debates, showcookings and competitions, with a programme of talks, round tables and the presence of prestigious figures in the world of cuisine.
