The Cabildo de La Palma launches 'El Tarjetazo +14' to promote local commerce in all the island's municipalities

The new edition of this campaign will run from 10 April to 11 June, distributing 1,700 consumer cards worth 30 euros, which represents a direct investment of 50,000 euros in the Island's businesses.

The Cabildo Insular de La Palma, through the public company SODEPAL, is launching the campaign El Tarjetazo +14, the route that multiplies your purchases, a strategic action that aims to encourage consumption in local shops in all the municipalities of the island.

With a budget of 50,000 euros, the campaign includes the distribution of 1,700 consumer cards worth 30 euros, aimed at residents of the island who make purchases of 50 euros or more in commercial establishments, services or restaurants. The Cabildo expects the new edition of this initiative to generate a minimum direct impact of 135,000 euros.

The campaign will be territorial, staggered and face-to-face, covering the 14 municipalities grouped into four regional blocks between 10 April and 11 June 2025. The cards must be used in participating businesses in the same territorial area in which they were issued, and can be exchanged until 31 July.

Miriam Perestelo, the Councillor of Commerce of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, pointed out that "this is a campaign designed from the territory and for the territory. We want to reach every corner of the island and directly support the shops that make the daily life of our villages possible".

"We have divided the campaign by counties to ensure an orderly, equitable and close distribution. And we have opted for a face-to-face delivery system, in physical format, to prevent the digital divide from leaving out those who do not have the digital means to access it," added Perestelo.

In the framework of the presentation of the new edition of the initiative, the mayor of San Andrés y Sauces, Francisco Paz, pointed out that "for our municipality, hosting the presentation of this insular campaign is a source of pride. Local commerce is part of the soul of our streets, and actions such as El Tarjetazo +14 are essential to support those who, every day, raise their businesses and contribute to economic and social development. I would like to thank the Cabildo de La Palma and Sodepal for choosing us to present this action, giving visibility to the municipality and its business fabric".

For his part, the director of the Caixabank branch in San Andrés y Sauces and Barlovento, Rodrigo Miguel Toledo, thanked the Cabildo and the public company Sodepal for trusting the financial institution to "go hand in hand in this new campaign that seeks to boost commercial activity throughout the island. We are sure that this initiative will help to stimulate shopping, as well as economic activity, generating a dynamic environment, which will give a boost to the businesses of La Palma", he said.

The Tarjetazo +14 is part of the project La Palma es Comercio, promoted by Sodepal with funding from the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, and aims not only to boost sales, but also to encourage responsible and sustainable consumption, in line with the island's economic development.

The commercial action will take place from 10th to 25th April in the municipalities of Puntagorda, Garafía and San Andrés y Sauces; from 29th April to 9th May in Puntallana, Breña Alta and Santa Cruz de La Palma; from 13th to 21st May in Fuencaliente, Villa de Mazo and Breña Baja, and will conclude from 27th May to 11th June in Tijarafe, El Paso, Tazacorte and Los Llanos de Aridane.

During the period established for each zone, consumers will be able to obtain a consumer card by making purchases in local shops. The campaign allows only one card per ID card holder, which can be collected at a visible and accessible point in each municipality.

Information on the initiative is available on the website of the public company Sodepal as well as at the various delivery points.
