The Cabildo promotes digital training in the field of handicrafts

Several craftsmen and craftswomen from La Palma have learned about invoicing, social media management and content creation.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, promotes digital training in the field of crafts by offering various training courses on invoicing, social media management and content creation for craftsmen and craftswomen of La Palma. These training courses, organised by the Acelera Pyme project, began in October 2024 and will run until February this year.

The CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, defines these trainings as "essential". "In the current society in which we live, the digital world and social networks play a very important role, even more so in the field of work, since with social networks artisans can promote their work in a more global way".

In this sense, Miriam Perestelo explains that "craftsmanship has been characterised by being a sector totally alien to technological progress, so it is an ideal opportunity to complement in some way these works in which the skill of the specialist and the nature of the product predominate with the digital world".

For his part, Pablo Díaz Cobiella, the island's crafts councillor, stresses that the training, with a practical and accessible approach, covers the basic elements of an invoice, both in its conventional form and electronically, as well as the use of templates and digital tools. Participants learn how to carry out procedures with public administrations through electronic offices, promoting their transition to a more efficient and sustainable digital environment.

Craftsmanship and technology, a pairing destined to complement each other

Digitalisation not only simplifies processes, but also opens doors to new opportunities. The aim of this initiative is to ensure that craftsmen and craftswomen feel prepared and confident when using digital tools. For this reason, training is especially relevant in view of the increasing obligation of electronic invoicing for all self-employed workers and companies, a change that will allow greater transparency and optimisation in the management of their operations.

This project is part of the ongoing effort of Acelera Pyme and Sodepal to support small local businesses, integrating the artisan tradition of La Palma with the demands of today's market. In addition to providing practical tools, the aim is to boost the competitiveness of artisans, facilitating their access to public aid and subsidies, as well as to new markets.

The Cabildo de La Palma and Acelera Pyme La Palma will continue to support crafts with workshops and personalised advice. For more information, interested parties can contact via email at oapr.lapalma@sodepal.es or visit the website www.acelerapyme-lapalma.com
