The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, stresses that the aim of the initiative is to support local commerce and promote the commitment of residents and visitors to it.
The Cabildo de La Palma is launching the Christmas campaign "Gifts with History", an initiative promoted by the Department of Economic Promotion and Commerce and the public company Sodepal, together with the island's town councils, Fedepalma, the La Palma branch of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber of Commerce and FAEP, to strengthen the business fabric and support local commerce, promoting consumption in La Palma establishments among residents and visitors.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, presented the initiative together with the Councillor for Trade of Los Llanos de Aridane, Verónica González, and representatives of the island's business and trade associations.
"This campaign not only seeks to foster the Christmas spirit that characterises this time of year, but also to strengthen our commercial fabric and support small and medium-sized businesses, which are the heart of our local economy", explained the councillor, who highlighted the great challenges that the sector has faced in recent years, but also the business resilience and the joint work that has resulted from these complex moments.
In this sense, Miriam Perestelo expressed her gratitude for the commitment and dedication that the different associations, federations and chambers of commerce, as well as local development agents and trade councillors from the different municipalities have shown from the very beginning to work together and in coordination with the Cabildo of La Palma, "understanding that together we are stronger".
"Their constant effort and their willingness to actively participate in the planning, execution and improvement of the initiatives we have promoted have been essential to advance our shared objectives, which are none other than strengthening the business fabric, supporting local commerce and facing the challenges that our island has faced in recent years", said the councillor.
"Gifts with History":
The campaign begins with the presentation of the Christmas poster, which has been made available to everyone so that they can make use of it through the various initiatives also launched by the town councils and associations.
In addition, a wide variety of recordings have been compiled where the participants tell their memories about their most precious gifts, appealing to the emotions and making visible the impact of local commerce on the emotional part of people, as it is not only an economic issue but we can see how it is able to generate a good memory, a nice experience for the recipient and putting in value our products and services.
Other initiatives that promote local trade:
It should be recalled that the Island Corporation has also recently launched the Tarjetazo initiative, aimed at injecting 30,000 euros in consumer vouchers and targeted at the Valle de Aridane area, taking into account its economic situation and differentiated, at this time and for obvious reasons, from the rest of the island's territory.
Furthermore, on the 5th of December the Shopping Day will take place in Santa Cruz de La Palma, understood as a unique opportunity to showcase the products and services offered by local businesses, a unique day with different activities, promotions and surprises, where each business will be a discovery.
On the other hand, in December, the Cabildo plans to launch the Bono Bonito, worth 350,000 euros, which will help at this time when purchases are being made and provide incentives for them to be made in local shops, thus avoiding leakage to other areas.
