The Cabildo and the commercial sector promote local consumption with the initiative 'Santa Cruz Shopping Day'.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, presented this new campaign designed to strengthen local commerce in the run-up to the Christmas season.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal and its project La Palma es Comercio, is launching Santa Cruz Shopping Day, an innovative proposal that seeks to boost local commerce and offer a unique experience to customers. This project, which will be carried out in collaboration with the Santa Cruz de La Palma Town Council, the Santa Cruz de La Palma Historical Quarter Association and AEPA (Santa Cruz de La Palma Open Shopping Area), will be held for the first time on 5th December, coinciding with the bank holiday weekend.

Boosting local trade at Christmas.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade, Miriam Perestelo, highlighted the importance of promoting local consumption during these key dates for the commercial sector. "La Palma's shops are a reflection of our identity, proximity and quality. They represent a fundamental pillar in our economy and in the generation of employment. Therefore, with initiatives such as Santa Cruz Shopping Day, we seek to support them, strengthening their role within our community and making our streets a more dynamic and attractive place", he said.

The accidental mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Raico Arrocha, and the councillor for Local Development and Commerce, Omaira Pérez, highlighted the value of these actions for boosting commercial activity and attracting both residents and visitors, revitalising the streets of the capital at the start of the Christmas campaign.

During the presentation ceremony, representatives of the commercial fabric also took part, such as Carlota Pérez, from the Casco Histórico Association, and Virginia Castro, from AEPA, who thanked the institutions for their support and highlighted the sector's commitment to innovate and adapt to the needs of the public.

Santa Cruz Shopping Day, a day full of surprises.

The initiative aims to turn every shop into a point of discovery and transform Santa Cruz de La Palma into a lively and dynamic showcase. To this end, multiple activities have been organised, including:

  • Musical entertainment throughout the day.
  • Children's activities designed for the little ones.
  • Fashion shows featuring companies from the textile sector.
  • Special discounts, exclusive promotions and gifts for customers.

In addition, shops will be dressed up to offer a different and memorable experience in the most important month for sales.

Santa Cruz Shopping Day not only seeks to promote local consumption, but also to consolidate the role of Santa Cruz de La Palma as a commercial reference on the island, especially in a season as significant as Christmas. Through this campaign, it is hoped to attract both residents and tourists, strengthening the local economy and creating a festive atmosphere that invites people to enjoy the city.
