The new edition of the initiative will be held from 20 to 22 September.
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, is launching the new edition of the Encuentro del Atlántico, which in its new edition seeks to continue raising awareness about the care of the oceans and marine pollution and which will host the Insular Sailing Championship. The initiative will be held from 20 to 22 September.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the La Palma Island Council and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, stresses that the purpose of this meeting is to develop awareness-raising activities for students of different ages, allowing them to understand that "it is essential that our children and young people know the importance of caring for the oceans and avoiding water pollution".
The councillor also highlights "the passion and commitment of the professionals who work at the Insular Sailing School, who form a great team not only with the children and adults who take part in the activity, but also with their families".
"This responsibility is supported every year by the Encuentro del Atlántico, which organises the most important regatta of optimist and ilca that takes place in La Palma, and this year is joined by the Vela Latina, with centuries of history in the Canary Islands", says the councillor.
As part of the event, the IV Regata Isla Bonita will also take place, which is the Isla Bonita Island Regatta Championship, in which sailors of all ages from different municipalities will participate in the categories of optimist, ilca and lateen sailing. The event has the collaboration of the Canarian Sailing Federation and the design of the regatta course is located between Breña Alta and Santa Cruz de La Palma.
On the same dates, the fourth edition of the Diving Baptism will take place in the area of Malpique in Fuencaliente, an area renowned for lovers of this activity due to the Malpique Crosses and the Malpique Tower. In this case, it should be noted that this is an introductory experience with a shallow dive.
