The Isla Bonita Love Festival proudly "conquers" Francisca Gazmira Square

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, highlights the importance of this type of action to make the LGTBIQ+ community visible and to continue fighting for a free and diverse society.

The Isla Bonita Love Festival proudly "conquers" the Francisca Gazmira square in the municipality of El Paso. The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, together with the CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, and the mayor of El Paso, Eloy Martín, inaugurated the Plaza del Orgullo in the municipality last Thursday, 25th July.

Sergio Rodríguez highlighted the importance of this type of action, which is part of the Love Festival's Social Agenda, and which seeks to occupy public space as a symbol of progress for the LGTBIQ+ community, which has been historically oppressed.

In this sense, the president stresses that this allows the collective to be made visible and to continue fighting for a free and diverse society where people are not afraid to express themselves and to love.

The CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, emphasised the importance of continuing to develop the different activities that each year make up the Social Agenda of the Isla Bonita Love Festival, an event that has positioned itself at regional and national level for its struggle and for the defence of values that are key to progress as a society.

For his part, the mayor of El Paso, Eloy Martín, thanked the Island Corporation for the fact that this year, on the occasion of the triennial festivities of the municipality, the Pride Square has been moved to the centre of El Paso, a municipality firmly committed to equality and diversity.

This year, the inauguration of the Plaza del Orgullo featured performances by Azúcar Moreno and the renowned Canarian artist Drag Sethlas.
