For her part, the CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, defends the commitment of the public company to continue promoting an event that, edition after edition, continues to attract players from the regional, national and international scene and allows linking sport with other activities parallel to the development of the event itself to publicise the attractions of the island.
Specifically, this new edition will feature the participation of Grandmaster Andrey Sumets, who will be the protagonist of the tournament and will also be joined by Grandmaster Plat Vojtech. Among those registered there are also representatives from 11 countries and there will be six Grandmasters, 12 International Masters, 10 Fide Masters and two Grandmasters.
In the list of players we find the previous winner of the event Grandmaster Salvador del Rio, two times winner of the stars and two players like International Master Pulvet, runner-up of the world champion for blind players and the world champion for veteran women, Monica Calzzeta.
Canarian chess will be very present with the participation of its best players, headed by players from La Palma, such as International Masters Joaquín and Fabián Fiorito, Fide Master Francisco Fiorito, Fide Master José Antonio Herrera, Fide Master Alberto Hernández and Fide Master Héctor Gil.
From the Canary Islands, Grand Master Kurajica, a classic player, will be visiting the island accompanied by Fide Master Raúl Pérez, International Master Alfredo Brito, Fide Master Alejandro Uzcategui, as well as numerous players representing the different islands and clubs of the Canary Islands.
