The VII Encuentro Insular de Senderismo brought together 400 hikers from ten clubs of La Palma.

Councillor Miriam Perestelo values the work of Gilberto Morales, "who selflessly carries out a fundamental task for the event to take place".

Around 400 hikers belonging to ten clubs from La Palma took part this weekend in the VII Encuentro Insular de Senderismo, held in Fuencaliente and organised by the Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, with the collaboration of the Town Hall and the Federación Canaria de Montañismo (Canarian Mountaineering Federation).

The meeting offered three routes of different distances and technical difficulty. The shortest route started from Pino de la Virgen to Los Canarias, the town centre where the half route started and finished at the lighthouse. The most demanding route linked Las Manchas with Fuencaliente.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion, Miriam Perestelo, informed that "the routes are designed according to the criteria of the hiking clubs of La Palma, represented by Gilberto Morales, who selflessly carries out a fundamental task so that the event can take place".

The Encuentro Insular de Senderismo is a day of conviviality for the walkers of La Palma, an island with more than 1,000 kilometres of signposted trails. At the end of the hikes, the more than 400 hikers who took part in the event were able to enjoy a meal in which they shared their experiences of the routes they had completed and the hikes they have planned for the coming months.

Miriam Perestelo emphasised that "the protagonists and architects" of this meeting "are the hiking clubs and each and every one of the hikers who participate", who highlight "the extraordinary heritage of La Palma's hiking trails".
