The satisfaction of restaurateurs and producers, with a high evaluation of both the volume of sales achieved and the positioning of their establishments, demonstrates the success achieved at the 2nd Saborea La Palma Island Gastronomy Fair.
The event was held on 26th and 27th September in the Plaza Juan Pablo II in Los Llanos de Aridane, organised by the Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, in collaboration with the Aridane Town Hall.
The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, stressed that "the resounding success of this II Feria Insular de Gastronomía is proof that the path started last year in Fuencaliente has been the right one". "We have seen how the seed we planted a year ago has become a consolidated event, a real meeting point that shows that our gastronomy has no borders on the island", he added.
Furthermore, the president stressed that "this fair is not just an event; it is a celebration of our identity, our flavours, our history and the hands that work the land and sea of La Palma".
The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma, Miriam Perestelo, highlighted "the commitment shown by the participants in the fair, who have managed to convey the quality of the island's gastronomy to the attending public". The councillor emphasised "the progress made in terms of both organisation and sales in this second edition, compared to the first one held in Fuencaliente in 2024, which guarantees the continuity of a fair that we are convinced will consolidate as a reference in the Canary Islands".
Miriam Perestelo not only valued the role of the participating companies from La Palma, but also thanked "the involvement" of the representatives of gastronomy from Tenerife and Fuerteventura, as well as from Galicia, "who have also informed us of the good numbers achieved at this fair".
The presentation area of Saborea La Palma (Come La Palma), the concerts of tributes to Elvis Presley and The Beatles, the actions of the Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentaria or the Margullando contests "have been fundamental to give added value to the development of this fair", according to the councillor.
The 2nd Saborea La Palma Gastronomy Fair also brought distributors from mainland Spain and Germany into contact with producers on the island. In this sense, the Minister of Agriculture, Alberto Paz, stressed that "this is a first experience of professional meetings that we are confident will bear fruit in a medium period of time". "Our producers and restaurateurs have taken a step forward in believing in the fruit of their work, in knowing that we have quality products and cuisine, in having confidence when it comes to positioning themselves," the Minister stressed.
Finally, the Councillor for Economic Promotion said that Saborea La Palma "is making a great effort in terms of promotion", but acknowledged that "now we must go further in the training of our gastronomic sector", anticipating that before the end of 2025 "actions will be developed for producers and restaurateurs".
