The Isla Bonita Moda programme, promoted by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through the public company Sodepal, adds a new addition to its creative community with the entry of the designer Raquel SanJuan, winner of the New Talent Award - in collaboration with the Manolo Blahnik Art School - in the latest edition of the Isla Bonita Moda Awards for Talent Made in La Palma.
Her arrival at the label not only reinforces the programme's commitment to the promotion of new creators, but also highlights the importance of giving value to the pool of talent being trained on the island. Raquel's incorporation underlines the importance of training as a driving force for professionalisation, highlighting the essential role that the Manolo Blahnik School of Art plays in the training of the present and future of fashion in La Palma.
Originally from Santa Cruz de La Palma, Raquel SanJuan is a milliner, pattern maker and multidisciplinary creator. Her work is distinguished by a combination of aesthetic sensitivity, technical mastery and a contemporary vision of design made in the Canary Islands. Influenced by her mother - a craftswoman of traditional costumes - since she was a child she has developed a great passion for ancestral techniques and manual work and that is why her work reflects a deep connection with the values of the programme: conscious production, respect for artisanal processes and a creative identity born from the territory.
Raquel, who will soon open her own creative space on the island, has successfully passed the validation process of the Isla Bonita Moda Guarantees Committee, which endorses the coherence of her project with the principles of the platform. Its incorporation adds freshness and evolution to the group of firms of the label, enriching the creative diversity of the fashion ecosystem of the island.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the La Palma Island Council, Miriam Perestelo, celebrates this new incorporation, pointing out that "the entry of creators like Raquel SanJuan reaffirms the programme's commitment to training, emerging talent and the sustainable growth of the sector. La Palma has a solid and promising creative base, and it is a priority to continue promoting spaces that allow this talent to develop, professionalise and find real opportunities inside and outside the island".
With this new membership, Isla Bonita Moda continues to strengthen its mission to consolidate a diverse, sustainable creative fabric with its own identity, supporting both established firms and those who represent the future of design made on La Palma.
