The Isla Bonita Moda programme, promoted by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through Sodepal, is once again participating in the Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida, consolidating its presence in the main swimwear fashion show in Spain.
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, is once again participating in the Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida. In this edition it presents the collective proposal 'Agujas de Sal', a project that pays tribute to the handmade tradition of embroidery in La Palma and to the generations who, with their hands, have woven the history and identity of the island.
Agujas de Sal' was born as a reflection on memory, identity and emotion. The needle symbolises the home and the craft; the salt, the tear, the sea and life. Together they evoke the essence of the island: sensitive, resilient and deeply creative. The collection rescues the value of the handmade, integrating tradition and contemporaneity under a narrative of respect and beauty.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the La Palma Island Council and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo Rodríguez, stresses that 'Agujas de Sal' is the perfect reflection that represents the union between contemporary creativity and the artisan heritage that defines our identity and also projects the entrepreneurial capacity of our local talent onto international stages". "This project highlights the value of La Palma's craftsmanship, innovation and economic potential, demonstrating that identity and tradition can become an engine of development and commercial projection for La Palma", Perestelo added.
"With initiatives like this, the Cabildo de La Palma continues to promote fashion with purpose, which generates opportunities, strengthens the local economy and positions our creators on the global design map", adds the councillor.
This is a collective proposal with the seal of La Palma that brings together eight firms that are members of the Isla Bonita Moda programme, reflecting the diversity and strength of La Palma's creative talent through clothing, jewellery and leather goods:
Adrienne, one of the latest additions to the collective, stands out for a disruptive aesthetic vision that combines the avant-garde with simplicity, fluidity and a special sensitivity towards natural materials.
Alex Menorca, a designer with a contemporary and experimental outlook, is committed to formal innovation and signature design, with a well-defined visual identity and a strong social commitment.
Atelier El Tesoro, the creative workshop of Anna Joos, is distinguished by its meticulous craftsmanship and the symbolic value of each piece, where delicacy and detail are the protagonists.
Ban Artesanía en Cuero, a benchmark of contemporary palm craftsmanship, combines tradition and modern design. Its handmade pieces reflect the authenticity and durability of leather craftsmanship.
Julia Brito, a multidisciplinary creator who fuses craftsmanship and modernity, with special attention to precise tailoring and details that define a sober and natural elegance.
Rayco Plata, a designer of avant-garde lines who stands out for his conceptual vision and his constant exploration of form and contemporary aesthetics.
Sara Luis Joyas, a designer jewellery brand inspired by nature and human emotions, whose style is defined by the purity of lines, harmony and contemporary elegance.
Shamelu, a brand focused on the swimwear and lingerie segment, characterised by its freshness, colour and energy; its cheerful and versatile style connects with a young, functional and expressive fashion.
The Agujas de Sal collection is inspired by the ancient cisnados and traditional embroideries of La Palma, rescuing their symbolism and reinterpreting them from a contemporary point of view. Indigo blue and white tones predominate in a proposal that transcends aesthetics to become a tribute to the patience, art and memory of the women who embroidered the history of the island.
The project also has the collaboration of La Palma Artesanía, thus reinforcing the connection between design, territory and heritage, and underlining Isla Bonita Moda's commitment to sustainable, local fashion with identity.
