The 1st edition of the Gastronomic Festival 'Saborea La Palma Me Sabe' will fill the weekend in Fuencaliente with flavours and experiences.

An event that unites training, tradition and sustainability to promote the gastronomy of La Palma.

The Cabildo de La Palma, through its public company Sodepal and within the framework of the 'Saborea La Palma' project, is organising the first edition of the Gastronomic Festival 'Saborea La Palma Me Sabe', which will take place from the 8th to the 10th of November in the municipality of Fuencaliente. This event invites locals and visitors to explore the culinary richness of the island, with a diverse programme of activities and workshops that highlight the importance of training in hotel and catering, while promoting local produce and sustainability.

A platform for small and medium-sized gastronomic enterprises:
The festival will bring together more than thirty small and medium-sized businesses linked to La Palma's gastronomy, offering spaces dedicated to the tasting of creations by local chefs and island products. There will also be round tables and presentations, as well as an exciting competition to choose the Best Burger of La Palma. Attendees will also be able to enjoy a children's area with activities such as inflatables, live cooking workshops (showcooking) and arts and crafts, specially designed for the little ones to enjoy the event.

The event is complemented by live musical performances by well-known local groups such as Los Tres de Caña, the Agrupación Folclórica Tendal, the Dúo Palma and Fran Ramos, who will entertain the weekend with a varied repertoire.

A boost to local consumption and sustainability:
For the president of the Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, the festival represents an exceptional opportunity to give visibility to the island's products and gastronomy: "This event is committed to sustainability and local consumption, but it is also a meeting place for professionals in the sector, generating synergies that boost economic development and job creation on La Palma".

Miriam Perestelo, Councillor for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, highlights the importance of this platform for local producers to showcase and promote their products, enriching and disseminating the culinary identity of La Palma. "It is a unique opportunity to strengthen the link between our gastronomy and those who visit us," she stresses.

Programme and highlights:
The festival will open its doors on Friday 8 November, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Saturday at 13:00 hours, after which the traditional ceremony of the Jura de la Pipa del Vino will take place, in a tribute to the island's wine-making tradition.

The event has the support of the Fuencaliente Town Council and the collaboration of entities such as the Federation of Businessmen of La Palma (Fedepalma), the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin of La Palma, the Association of Palmera Goat Breeders, the Association of Coffee Growers of La Palma and Saborea España, among others.
