The Transvulcania adidas Terrex Marathon is dominated by Fran Anguita and Gemma Arenas

The race recovers the support of the people of Palencia and returns that support in the form of a sporting spectacle.

The Transvulcania adidas Terrex Marathon crowned Fran Anguita and Gemma Arenas as the winners of the 2024 edition with a course record for both of them. The race lived up to the expectations around it with the always respected start from the Refugio de El Pilar and the finish at the Puerto de Tazacorte in a festive atmosphere.

The race was very attractive and had a large number of athletes capable of fighting for the victory. The hardness of the first part of the course was making a natural selection that was in charge of finishing the hard descent to the finish line located at sea level.

In Tazacorte to the applause of the fans Fran Anguita (3h.44:25) made his way to become the winner of the Transvulcania adidas Terrex 2024 Marathon. Second was Peter Frano (3h.48:08) and third on the podium was Milly Brito (3h.48.50).

The women's race was a tough one. Gemma's sporting sacrifice earned her the first place with a time of 4h.35:01 ahead of Inés Astraín (4h.38:35) and Kim Schreiber (4h.44:38) who closed the first three places.

"Beyond the results and the winners, I think that in this edition there is a winner, which is the island of La Palma. To see how the spirit of Transvulcania has been reactivated in the people of La Palma is priceless and the example is what has been experienced at the arrival of the Marathon to its original place in Puerto de Tazacorte. I sincerely believe that this edition of the Transvulcania has brought back the excitement to participants, public and organisers", said the president of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, at the end of the race.
