The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, stresses that this is a key step in the strategy to position the island as a smart shopping destination.
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, will develop an island map of commerce, an action that is developed within the framework of the subsidy of the line of transformation of the commercial sector in the Canary Islands - financed by the FEDER Operational Programme and which seeks to promote the digitisation of the sector.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Trade of the Cabildo and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, stresses that this innovative project will be materialised through an online platform that will be useful, intuitive and easy to use for the commercial companies of La Palma and that it is carried out as part of the roadmap of the strategy that will allow the island and the Canary Islands to become a smart commercial destination.
"This island trade map not only modernises the relationship between the administration and the business fabric, but it will also enable the compilation and analysis of key data on the distribution and typology of trade in La Palma", Perestelo explained, stressing that this information will serve as a basis for future decisions on territorial planning, economic support and public policies that favour a more balanced and sustainable commercial development, adapted to the real needs of each municipality.
Among its main functionalities, the platform will have a direct and bidirectional communication system between Sodepal and the companies, which will allow a more agile and efficient management of procedures, as well as updated access to relevant information: training, subsidies, campaigns such as consumer vouchers or events aimed at the commercial sector.
In addition, the tool will enable a channel of interaction between companies, facilitating the connection between traders from different municipalities and promoting a collaborative environment that favours synergies and the joint growth of the island's business fabric.
From the consumer's perspective, the tool will offer a digital directory of businesses that will function as an online showcase. Each member establishment will be able to display its information, links to its website or WhatsApp Business profile and thus facilitate a closer and more accessible experience, adapted to new forms of consumption.
Door-to-door work will be carried out, informing each company directly to facilitate their adhesion to the system. In addition, a direct registration channel will be set up, accessible to any company or business on the island, so that they can register easily.
