Sodepal has opened registration for residents of the island, the rest of the participants will be able to do so from March 17th.
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, has opened the registration period for the ninth edition of La Palma Ecuestre, a championship that has already consolidated its place in the island's sporting calendar. People from the island can already register for the 2025 edition, while those who live outside La Palma will be able to do so from the 17th of March. Registrations can be made through the event's web page. https://lapalmaecuestre.com/
The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Commerce of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, highlights the importance that this competition has acquired, not only on the island but also on the regional scene, positioning itself as a reference in the equestrian world.
For his part, the Councillor for Sports, Yurguen Hernández, recalls that La Palma Equestrian has two modalities, the speed, with 1,100 metres of course, and the distance, with 2,100 metres. In this edition there will be a limit of 30 places per category in order to guarantee the safety of riders and horses, as well as the public attending the different events on the calendar.
It should be remembered that the competition is run in knockout stages, whereby the horses that win each pairing will move on to the next round and the horse that loses will be disqualified.
Calendar 2025
The first meeting of the ninth edition will take place on the 4th of April, at 17:00 hours, on the road to La Laguna, in the municipality of Tazacorte and Los Llanos de Aridane, and will correspond to the distance modality. The following day, the 6th, it will be the turn of speed, which will take place in the same area.
On the 3rd of May, the second day of the distance race will take place on the Hoyo de Todoque road, a section that has not been run since the eruption of the Tajogaite volcano and which has been recovered for this edition. On the 4th of May, the second speed event will take place on Avenida Carlos Francisco Navarro, in Los Llanos de Aridane.
The finals of both categories will take place on 1 June on the Tajuya road in El Paso.
These dates may have some variation in relation to the number of participants and registrations.
