More than 350 walkers from ten clubs of La Palma will participate this Saturday, October 21st, in the Encuentro Insular de Clubes de Senderismo organised by the public company Sodepal with funding from the Consejería Insular de Deportes, which in this edition will be held in San Andrés y Sauces.

The event, in which the San Andrés y Sauces Town Council and the Canary Islands Mountain Federation are collaborating, has three routes, in which the members of the ten clubs registered for this day will participate free of charge: El Atajo, Mazucator, Caminantes de las Breñas, Los Eróticos, Fuente Benamas, El Poiso, El Retamar, Junonia, Tajodeque and Amigos de La Palma.

The routes will start from Los Tilos, La Laguna de Barlovento and El Tendal, with the hikers meeting in the town centre of the northern municipality. Sodepal is offering a bus service to make it easier to attend the meeting, as well as a meal for the walkers at the end of the routes, which are between three and six kilometres long.

The president of the Cabildo, Sergio Rodríguez, highlights "the activities carried out by the hiking clubs throughout the year, which give greater visibility to the unique corners and areas of our island, while also highlighting the natural beauty of the island and promoting active leisure".

Miriam Perestelo, the Councillor for Economic Promotion and Digital Transformation of the Cabildo and CEO of Sodepal, praised the figure of Gilberto Morales, "a fundamental person for the organisation of this meeting, who has experienced first-hand the evolution of hiking in La Palma over the last decades".
