La Palma promotes a new Transvulcania Bike in stages, consolidating the island as an international mountain biking reference point

The event will take place from 14 to 16 November at various locations around the island.

The Cabildo de La Palma presented today the new edition of Transvulcania Bike, which this year evolves towards a stage format, reinforcing its position as one of the most important events in the island and regional sports calendar. The event will take place from the 14th to the 16th of November in various parts of the island.

The presentation was attended by the Councillor for Sports, Yurguen Hernández; the CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo; as well as the municipal representatives of the host municipalities, such as the Mayor of El Paso, Eloy Martín; the Mayor of Tijarafe, Yaiza Cáceres, and the Mayor of Fuencaliente, Gregorio Alonso. Also present were representatives of the sports organisations Bike El Paso and La Tea MTB, together with the runner and ambassador of the race, Pedro Rodríguez.

The new Transvulcania Bike was born from the integration of previous experiences accumulated over more than 15 years in the organisation of cycling events on the island and proposes a structure of three stages that will cross the municipalities of El Paso, Tijarafe and Fuencaliente, crossing areas of great scenic wealth and high natural value.

This evolution has been possible thanks to the joint collaboration with the Bike El Paso and La Tea MTB races, whose promoters have shown great generosity in joining a common project for the benefit of island sport.

Yurguen Hernández explained that "this new Transvulcania Bike is an example of institutional and citizen collaboration. We are convinced that La Palma has the ideal conditions to consolidate itself as an international mountain biking destination and we will continue working to achieve this with determination".

"This stage format will allow us to show the richness and diversity of the island from a sporting perspective. Moreover, this merger of projects is an example of collective commitment to quality sport," said the councillor, who thanked all the participating municipalities and organisations for their involvement.

For her part, the CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, stressed that "Transvulcania Bike is a firm commitment to planning, professionalism and sustainability. We have designed an ambitious, inclusive event with the clear objective of continuing to position La Palma as a benchmark sporting destination".

The rider and ambassador of the race, Pedro Rodríguez, said that "this new Transvulcania Bike represents the future of MTB in the Canary Islands. It is a privilege to be part of a project that reflects the potential of our island and the commitment of the entire cycling community".

The stages of Transvulcania Bike 2025

Stage one will start and finish in El Paso. This section will take place between old royal roads, pine forest trails and technical sections such as Pared Vieja and Minibirigoyo, reflecting the soul of mountain biking in El Paso.

Stage two will pass through vineyards, laurel and pine forests, crossing the municipalities of Tijarafe, Puntagorda and Garafía. The ascent to Izcagua will be the highlight of the day.

Stage three will go from the volcanic south of the municipality of Fuencaliente to the laurel forest in the centre of the island. This section offers a unique and dynamic experience, highlighting sections such as the Cabrito track, the Las Cabras path and the GR-131.

The rider and ambassador of the race, Pedro Rodríguez, said that "this new Transvulcania Bike represents the future of MTB in the Canary Islands. It is a privilege to be part of a project that reflects the potential of our island and the commitment of the entire cycling community".

The Cabildo de La Palma is deeply grateful for the involvement of the town councils of El Paso, Tijarafe and Fuencaliente, as well as the sports organisations and collaborating companies that make this project possible.

The Transvulcania Bike 2025 is thus consolidated as a benchmark event that combines sport, nature, sustainability and territorial promotion, actively contributing to the economic and tourist development of the Isla Bonita.
