The island repeats for the second year in this nomination, which places La Palma among the best filming destinations in Europe.
The island of La Palma has been nominated for the prestigious EUFCN Location Awards 2025 (European Film Commissions Network) in the category of Best Film Location in Europe. This milestone consolidates the island among the international elite, being the second consecutive year that La Palma is present among the best destinations for filming audiovisual productions.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, points out that this nomination reaffirms the strategic work and management of the La Palma Film Commission, the office in charge of attracting and facilitating international and national filming on the Isla Bonita.
"The work of this project of Sodepal and the Island Council is fundamental for the external projection of La Palma and for the economic diversification of the territory", emphasises the councillor. Moreover, the fact that the winners of this edition of the EUFCN Location Award 2025 will be revealed during the EFM/Berlinale 2026, in February, is a magnificent showcase for the island.
The candidacy, in which La Palma will have to compete with other sites such as Belgrade in Serbia, Figueira de Foz in Portugal and Inari in Finland, highlights the island's landscapes and its link to the volcanoes, as well as its history, diversity of scenery and the island's cultural and urban heritage.
Miriam Perestelo points out that this nomination endorses the work that has positioned La Palma as an international benchmark for the production of audiovisual productions, also promoting the local development of companies linked to the sector.
