The expedition has been selected following the Island's recent participation in the audiovisual industry event Shooting Locations Marketplace in Valladolid.
Starting this Saturday, La Palma welcomes a delegation of 12 audiovisual professionals from the United States, who are touring the island on a trade mission organised by the La Palma Film Commission with the aim of discovering the locations offered by the island and being able to take advantage of the benefits of filming in this territory.
This famtrip, or business trip, aims to raise awareness of the many possibilities that the island offers as a setting for future international filming. The expedition has been selected following La Palma's recent participation in the audiovisual industry event Shooting Locations Marketplace in Valladolid, where the island's locations and services were promoted to a global audience of production and location experts.
During the visit, the American producers will have the opportunity to explore different key points of La Palma, recognising the island's potential for film and television projects. In addition to the natural and geographical advantages offered by the territory, the visit will allow the professionals to see first-hand the services and resources that local companies in the audiovisual sector can provide for large international productions.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, highlighted the importance of this initiative, pointing out that "the visit of this delegation represents a unique opportunity to consolidate La Palma as a competitive destination in the international filming market. From the Cabildo, through Sodepal, we are committed to supporting these actions that contribute to diversifying our economy, attracting investment and projecting our island to the world".
For her part, the Councillor for Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, also valued the visit positively and explained that "La Palma has an incalculable value as a natural setting, and this type of trade mission allows us to position our island on the radar of major productions. Not only do we strengthen our audiovisual industry, but we also reinforce tourism linked to this sector, generating employment and opportunities on the island".
For their part, these representatives of large audiovisual multinationals expressed their gratitude for the island's hospitality, as well as highlighting the "beautiful locations" that La Palma has to offer. They also referred to the tax incentives offered by the Government of the Canary Islands, which make it possible to attract productions to the islands.
This famtrip is the result of contacts made during the Shooting Locations Marketplace, where the La Palma Film Commission presented the island's most emblematic locations. The Film Commissions of Tenerife and Gran Canaria are also collaborating in this promotional action, thus reinforcing the image of the Canary Islands as a privileged destination for international audiovisual productions.
