The island of La Palma has received recognition for its work in the defence of sexual and gender diversity as a tourist destination, a national award given by the non-profit association Diversa Global.
The CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Yurguen Hernández, collected this award, which recognises the work carried out in the field of LGTBIQ diversity in the business, institutional and social sector in Spain.
Miriam Perestelo points out that the Cabildo works with a commitment to diversity and freedom so that all people can express themselves freely and love without fear. This work is reflected, among other actions, in the Isla Bonita Love Festival, a project that champions these values and which encompasses social awareness, cultural and musical actions in each edition, maintaining this commitment as its main characteristic.
Likewise, the councillor highlighted the work of the current government team, which is transversal in all areas, in the fight and defence of equality, freedom, inclusion and respect for all people on the island and those who visit it, making La Palma a place where everyone has a place.
The Cabildo de La Palma has been recognised for its track record in this regard in the framework of the eighth edition of the Diversa Awards, promoted by the Diversa Global association, an entity created in 2016 that works to promote diversity in the business, commerce and hospitality sectors.
