The most explosive race of the Isla Bonita event kicks off a frenetic week full of sporting excitement.
The adidas TERREX Transvulcania timer starts tomorrow (May 8th) with the first competitive race of the fifteenth edition of the adidas TERREX Transvulcania. The Vertical Climb, as explosive as it is spectacular, symbolises the start of the activity within this very special anniversary of La Palma's most international sporting event and it is an event in which all the participants leave their best to be able to write their name in the race's list of winners.
It is difficult to point out favourites among the runners participating in this edition because the Transvulcania adidas TERREX Vertical Climb is a race whose distance and course is open to many surprises, as has happened in previous editions. And the fact is that the tough ramps that lead the runners from the starting point at the Puerto de Tazacorte to the finish line at the Torre de El Time do not give the athletes any respite.
This year the range of favourites is more open than ever and among the male participants are the American David Sinclair, the Italian Luca del Pero, the Frenchman Boris Orlhac, the Argentinean Ezequiel Pauluzak and the local legion headed by Iván Moreno, Arezki Habibi, Diego Díaz, Carlos García, Kevin González and Aythami Brito, who wants to take another step forward after his remarkable performance in the last edition.
Moana Lilly Kehres is the great hope in the women's category. Moana already knows what it is like to climb the podium and in her important evolution as a mountain athlete she wants to continue climbing steps and try to compete against runners of the level of Maude Mathys, Yuri Yoshizumi, Raquel Casares, Charlotte Cotton, Silvia Lara, Estela Guerra, María Benito or Idoia Pérez.
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX is organised by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Tourism and Promotur with its brand "Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida", as well as the companies 226ERS, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meliá La Palma, Fred. Olsen Express, Cicar, Spar La Palma, Coca-Cola, Libbys and Isola.
