The Benahoarita Museum in Los Llanos de Aridane hosts a symbolic presentation of the fifteenth edition of the emblematic race of the Isla Bonita.
The fifteenth edition of the Transvulcania adidas TERREX is already underway. The Benahoarita Museum in Los Llanos de Aridane was the chosen venue for the presentation of a race that celebrates a very special anniversary and returns stronger than ever.
This Thursday, May 8th, the Vertical Climb will be held, which will inaugurate the competitive activity of the Transvulcania adidas TERREX 2025 and will give way to the big day of the race on Saturday, May 10th, with the celebration of the ultra marathon, the marathon and the half marathon of the race.
The presentation ceremony of the Transvulcania adidas TERREX 2025 was attended by Sergio Rodríguez, President of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma; Miriam Perestelo, Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma; Yurguen Hernández, Councillor for Sports of the Cabildo de La Palma; Javier Llamas, Mayor of Los Llanos de Aridane; Eloy Martín, Mayor of El Paso; Manuel González, Mayor of Tazacorte; Yaiza Cáceres, Mayoress of Tijarafe; Robert Muecke, Global Marketing Director of adidas TERREX; Pablo Villa, runner of the adidas TERREX team and Laura Hernández, Race Director.
First of all, the president of the Cabildo Insular de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, took the floor and acknowledged that this fifteenth edition of Transvulcania adidas TERREX "brings together the best runners of the moment, international, national and local" and assured that the race maintains "the essence that we tried to recover last year and that we have managed to reactivate" by implementing an additional quota of "illusion" for the 15th edition of a race with more than 3,000 runners registered, representing 50 nationalities, with 18 percent of the total number of runners coming from outside Spain and 18 percent from the Canary Islands.3,000 registered runners representing 50 nationalities with 18 percent of those registered coming from outside Spain and 44 percent of runners from the Canary Islands within the national quota of participants.
"I hope that they enjoy the race very much and that we are proud that the vision of Transvulcania, associated with the island of La Palma, continues to be what it is and, above all, that the connection between the people of La Palma and the race is and remains present at all times", commented Sergio Rodríguez.
Robert Muecke, for his part, highlighted the "satisfaction" of Adidas TERREX for linking its name to that of a race like Transvulcania and that he hoped to be able to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the race together in five years' time". Muecke admitted that "this is a very special race because there is no other race in the world where you can experience this atmosphere as soon as you arrive at the airport. I've been to many races and you don't see this atmosphere in other races, this way of involvement of all the popular runners, the volunteers, the people who are on the course, all of them make the athletes want to run this race at least once in their life".
Pablo Villa, one of the most outstanding Spanish riders of the moment, admitted that he arrives at the event dreaming of "being on the top of the podium" in a race that means so much to him 11 years after his debut in the event. "Being here is always a luxury and I'm in a good moment to try to win the race, it doesn't depend on me because there are many very good runners but what does depend on me is to be prepared to give my best, I've just come from a very hard three-week camp and I'm really looking forward to the day of the ultra and to enjoy again the atmosphere of La Palma", said Villa, who thanked his reference, Luis Alberto Hernando, three times winner of the ultra distance, for everything he has learned during this time as part of the Adidas TERREX team.
The Transvulcania adidas TERREX is organised by the Cabildo Insular de La Palma through the public company SODEPAL, with the support of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Tourism and Promotur with its brand "Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida", as well as the companies 226ERS, Hotel H10 Taburiente Playa, Hotel La Palma Princess, Hotel Meliá La Palma, Fred.
