World champion Jonathan Albon to take part in Transvulcania

The recent winner of the CCC in Chamonix had not taken part in the Palmera race since the 2019 edition.

British Jonathan Albon, currently considered one of the best runners on the planet, returns to the Isla Bonita where he was already in the 2019 edition of Transvulcania. That was his first participation, in which he finished fourth and was proclaimed World Trail Champion weeks later in the World Championship held in Abutres, Portugal.

Albon, who is also experienced in obstacle races and has also been world champion in this modality (OCR World Champion) and world champion in the Spartan Race (Spartan World Champion), is currently at the top of the world ranking. The British runner will return to Transvulcania after completing a successful last season, winning renowned races such as the Festival Des Templiers or the CCC, both in France, as well as third place in the Spanish Zegama-Aizkorri marathon and fifth place in the competitive Innsbruck-Stubai World Championships, in the short distance category.

The President of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasises that the effort to regain the confidence of the citizens of La Palma in this race is also being reinforced by the response of world-class runners, who once again see the race as the challenge that has always attracted them to La Palma.

This participatory response, Sergio Rodríguez stresses, is also being seen in the popular participation, which is responding at a good pace to the registration process.

The event encourages trail lovers to register for any of its competitive modalities, which are already on their way to being sold out in the very short term in most of its modalities, with the Ultramarathon, the Marathon and the Half Marathon already at around 82%, and the Vertical Kilometre, the shortest modality, at 32%.
