The public company becomes an engine for the social and economic transformation of the island.
The Sociedad de Promoción y Desarrollo Económico y Social de la Isla de La Palma, S.A.U. (Sodepal) closed the 2024 financial year with historic results that consolidate its role as a key driver of economic reactivation on the island. The public entity has achieved record figures in investment, employment generation and collaboration with the local business fabric.
At the end of the year, Sodepal had a staff of 88 people, an increase of 29.4% compared to 2023. In addition, it has executed a global budget of 11.7 million euros, which implies an increase of 82.8% with respect to the previous year, resulting in a positive result of 83,444.71 euros.
The public company presents healthy, solid and balanced annual accounts, guaranteeing good performance and reaffirming its capacity to continue growing responsibly, efficiently and with a vision for the future.
The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, emphasises that "these figures reflect the collective effort we are making to respond effectively to the social and economic challenges facing La Palma". To this end, the president points out, "we have expanded resources, strengthened the staff and woven a solid network of collaboration with the island's private sector, involving more than 400 companies, SMEs and self-employed people from La Palma in the projects developed by the public company".
Miriam Perestelo, Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, highlights the involvement of the company's staff, "whose commitment, knowledge and management skills have been essential to achieve the objectives set".
This work carried out by the technical team has been key to turning ideas into tangible results, guaranteeing the efficiency of public resources and maximising their impact on the Island. The Councillor also reports that "we have also made a commitment to incorporate interns, providing new professional development opportunities for the Island's young talent".
The projects promoted by Sodepal have a social and economic impact far greater than the investment made. Every euro invested generates a multiplier effect, stimulating strategic sectors, boosting local consumption, attracting visitors, strengthening entrepreneurship and positioning La Palma as a resilient, innovative territory with a future.
The 2024 results confirm the effectiveness of Sodepal's management model, based on strategic planning, public-private collaboration and a vocation for public service. The backing given by the Cabildo de La Palma has been key to turning the public company into one of the pillars of the island's economic and social recovery.
