The leading wingfoil event will be held from 27 to 30 June, with the municipality of Santa Cruz de La Palma as the epicentre of its activities.
The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, is launching the third edition of the Encuentro del Atlántico project with a firm commitment to the sustainability and conservation of the marine environment.
The CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, defended that "La Palma has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and the conservation of the marine environment". Likewise, the councillor stressed that this meeting not only seeks to highlight the importance of our seas and oceans, but also to promote tools to mitigate the environmental impact and promote a gradual regeneration process. "From Sodepal, we have worked hard to consolidate this initiative, which is now strengthened with an even more varied and educational offer," she added.
In addition to maintaining the awareness of the environment and the environment through environmental workshops to be held by the Fundación Canarias Recicla, there will be an important commitment to water sports such as the celebration on La Palma of the only junior Wingfoil World Championship event. There will also be a third consecutive edition of the Isla Bonita Sailing Regatta, in which students from the island's Sailing School will take part. The programme will also include diving baptisms in the municipality of Fuencaliente.
For her part, the councillor for Education, Beach, Commerce and Local Development of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Omaira Pérez García, underlined the positive impact of the Encuentro on the municipality and stressed that "it is an honour for Santa Cruz de La Palma to be the epicentre of this important event, as it is not only an opportunity to raise awareness of marine environmental issues, but also to boost the local economy through activities that attract both residents and tourists".
Likewise, the CEO of the Spain Kiteboarding Association, Juan Antonio Martín Escobar, explained that this year La Palma will host the only event of the Wingfoil Junior World Championship. "This event will attract young talents from all over the world, positioning La Palma as a reference destination for water sports. It is also an excellent opportunity to showcase the beauty of our seas and raise awareness of the need to protect our natural resources," he explained.
