The countdown is on: Transvulcania will open for registration on 11 October

Sergio Rodríguez points out that this year's edition of the most important sporting event on the Isla Bonita "will be very special, because it will once again belong to the people of La Palma".

The Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, has announced that the countdown has begun for the opening of registration for Transvulcania, the most international sporting event on the Isla Bonita, which will take place on 11 May 2024. Those interested will be able to formalise their participation from 09.00 hours next Wednesday via the event's website: www.transvulcania.com.

"In the streets you can feel the desire for Transvulcania, and this edition will be very special, because it will once again belong to the people of La Palma; we will recover the essence and the origins of the competition so that our neighbours feel part of it, as was the case a few years ago. From minute one, the new government group of the Cabildo has been working on making these changes a reality, details of which will be announced next Wednesday", said the island's president, Sergio Rodríguez.

Thus, top-level professionals and trail running enthusiasts will meet in up to four modalities: Vertical, Half-Marathon, Marathon and Ultramarathon. "Races that enjoy prestige beyond our borders due to their technical difficulty, and of which the world's leading athletes are perfect connoisseurs, with whom we hope to have again on the island", says the CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo.

As for the routes, the head of the Cabildo Sports Department, Yurguen Hernández, specifies that the Vertical, which runs between Puerto de Tazacorte and the forest tower of El Time (Tijarafe), has a distance of 7.6 kilometres; the Half-Marathon, with 25 km between the Fuencaliente lighthouse and the El Pilar refuge (El Paso); the Marathon, with 43 km from the refuge to Puerto Bagañete, and the Ultramarathon, with 73 km from the Fuencaliente lighthouse to the Plaza de España in Los Llanos de Aridane.
