The Cabildo of La Palma and the Canary Islands Mountaineering Federation are making progress in the process of making the Isla Bonita the venue for the Regional Ramblers' Meeting at the end of this year.

The CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo; the island's Head of the Environment, Susa Armas, and the Councillor for Sports, Yurguen Hernández, have held a new working meeting with representatives of the Canary Islands Mountaineering Federation to define some key aspects of the next edition of this important event in the archipelago.

"Hiking is one of the characteristic activities of La Palma, both for the type of visitors we receive and for the people who live here, who can enjoy and get to know in depth the beauty of a World Biosphere Reserve island through our large network of trails", explains Miriam Perestelo.

The CEO of Sodepal adds that this event could be an important boost for the island, which has been holding its own island meeting for years and that in 2024 it intends to make a qualitative leap to become the venue for a regional event that will attract sportspeople from all the islands to La Palma, which will also be an important tourist promotion for the island.

For his part, the president of the Canary Islands Mountaineering Federation, Enrique Morales, explained that there are still aspects to be finalised in terms of the calendar and complementary activities, but he maintains that what is certain is that the island will be the chosen venue for this new edition, which will last between three and four days. 

Both entities continue to create synergies around this important regional meeting that seeks to promote La Palma as a space for the development of this activity among the Canarian population.
