The Island Council, through the public company Sodepal, is launching a new edition of the programme for the promotion of horse racing on the island, La Palma Ecuestre, reaching a total consensus between the sector and the administration for the development of this project.

The island's president, Sergio Rodríguez, points out that this is a sport with unquestionable roots in the society of La Palma, for which the Cabildo of La Palma encourages the support of the owners and riders of the island, generating a growing interest in this sport. To this end, the president stresses, agreements have been reached with the sector that allow for a new edition of La Palma Ecuestre, which aims to recover the synergies of the first years.

For his part, the Councillor for Sports, Yurguen Hernández, emphasised the Cabildo's commitment to improving equine sports on the island, as well as promoting the recovery of the raid discipline to be held as part of the La Palma Ecuestre project.

The CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, emphasises that this sporting event has a zootechnical and veterinary protocol that guarantees animal welfare and safety, both for animals and riders in the celebration of each of the planned tests.

Thus, after the draw made before a notary for this first day of the eighth edition of the event, the races will start next weekend, making it possible that on Saturday 27th the Distance races will be held in the district of La Laguna, starting at 17:00 hours, while on the 28th the Speed races will take place in the Avenida Carlos Francisco Lorenzo Navarro, starting at 18:00 hours, both in Los Llanos de Aridane.

Next Saturday's distance races will be seven, starting with Aitana Ciel vs Viri Etoil, followed by Pinturera vs Mascarado, Young General vs Le Professeur, Wuaspicho vs Beautot, King Lud vs Cavo D'Oro, Grisol vs Hit The Road and concluding with True Love vs Australia Cape.

Sunday's Speed races will be between Bee In Your Bonnet vs Secreto De Grey, Nirmali vs Arab Port, Battle Of Waterloo vs Funny How and a triple race between Prince De Galles, Catapum and Secreto De Green.

Sergio Rodríguez stresses that in this edition the prize money for winning each race and for the winners of the final championship will be recovered, as well as the remuneration per race and the support for the stables and the work carried out in each one of them.
