La Palma promotes itself as a filming location at the Shooting Locations Marketplace in Valladolid

The La Palma Film Commission will hold a total of 24 meetings at the Valladolid Marketplace, and will participate in round tables and talks to highlight the advantages of filming on the island.

This week La Palma is taking part in the fourth edition of the Shooting Locations Marketplace, an event held in Valladolid to connect film industry professionals with representatives of different filming locations, constituting a unique promotional opportunity for the island, which aims to position itself in the market as a preferred destination for audiovisual production.

The Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of the public company Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, highlights the importance of the presence of the La Palma Film Commission at this event, which brings together location and audiovisual production professionals from all over the world, in line with the objectives set by the island institution for the development of the audiovisual industry as a strategic sector. "A sector that contributes to diversifying our economy and generating more jobs", says Perestelo.

The councillor points out that "these meetings highlight the main advantages of our territory, highlighting the unique locations, landscape diversity, exceptional skies and volcanic landscapes, cultural and architectural heritage, favourable climate, infrastructure and proven local experience in international and local filming, as well as the tax incentives of the Canary Islands.

This marketplace is attended by localisation managers from international production companies, executive producers and, in this edition, as a novelty, creative production designers are also present to get to know the different audiovisual destinations at the Valladolid Fair.

La Palma Film Commission attends this event under the umbrella of Canary Island Film, which promotes the audiovisual sector of the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development, as a partner of the Spain Film Commission. A total of 24 meetings will be held during the fair, in addition to participating in round tables with experts and talks that will update content on the international reality of the sector, with the aim of bringing new business opportunities in the audiovisual sector to the island of La Palma.

Among the professionals attending, more than 70% come from the United States and Great Britain, with the rest coming from South Africa, Belgium, Serbia, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Germany and Spain, among others.

For her part, the Councillor for Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, stresses that "actions like this reinforce the international positioning of La Palma as a filming destination, by consolidating the image of the island as a natural set for audiovisual projects in the imagination of these professionals for their upcoming projects".

In addition, after participating in the Shooting Locations Marketplace, a group of audiovisual production professionals will tour the island accompanied by the La Palma Film Commission, to get to know it first hand.
